WORKSHOPS
Writing great Stage Intros – Constance Craving – New Zealand
Sat, Sept 27 10-11 am Free Flow Dance Centre 224 25th St. W.
Come learn how to craft entertaining, relevant stage intros that tell an audience who your stage persona is and what makes you unique. You will never again write, “Leave them wanting more” or “She’s sugar and spice” like every other Suzy von Strip. Tap into over a decade of my knowledge and experience of crafting intros (and bios! Not the same thing!) We cover how to write for voice, not words on a page, how to demonstrate, not describe, and how to help your MC to create a space for you to glide into in all your glory, and SLAY.
Authenticity, Character, and Movements. Celesta O’Lee – Montreal
Sat, Sept 27 11:15-12:15 pm Free Flow Dance Centre 224 25th St. W.
You’re working on a new act, and you bug your character… How to make it alive? How to embody it in your body? What are some good dance moves to give them? In this workshop, you will explore characters and their body language while making them express themselves through the right dance movements to ensure that the audience is captivated and glimpses an authentic part of you.
The workshop will be presented in 3 themes: Authenticity: your heart – Character: your guts – Movements: your head
To end with the work of the three ensembles in a group exercise (choreography or other). You will leave the course with new work tools and a new way to move your audience. *Bring something to write down and comfortable clothes.
Musicality 101 – Lala L’More – Finland
Sun, September 29th 10:30-11:30 am Free Flow Dance Centre 224 25th St. W.
In this workshop, you will learn how to listen and use music to your best advantage – find the different components of your music track that help to create that killer choreo! This workshop combines a short lecture with hands-on exercises so you can learn how to make a musical script for your act and then put that to good use when creating a burlesque choreography.
Suitability: all levels
What you need: pen and paper, comfortable clothing that you can move in
About the teacher: Lala L’More is an internationally known Finnish burlesque powerhouse that is especially known for hitting all the beats when on stage. She is classically trained in music for 10 years and has a background in multiple dance styles, with 10 years of experience in burlesque.
